HOW TO MAKE YOUR DAYDREAMS COME TRUE

The Case of Mrs. Toy Len Goon

Success to some is a bulging bank account, a spacious
home, social position! Those are fine ambitions but, to Mrs.
Toy Len Goon, success is none of these. To the American
Mother of 1952 success is measured in terms of love, respect
of the community in which she lives, the ability to make a
living and to educate her eight children. It was not always
easy, but Mrs. Goon has succeeded.

The American Mothers committee of the Golden Rule
Foundation recognized her accomplishments with their
highest tribute in 1952.

A native of Canton, China, 57 year-old Mrs. Goon, now a
U. S. citizen, has lived in Portland, Maine for 38 years. Her
husband operated a Chinese laundry. Twelve years ago he
died leaving Mrs. Goon to be the family bread-winner.

The courageous mother saw her children's needs food
and shelter, education, her encouragement, love, and guid-
ance. It was a formidable task, but Mrs. Goon gave all of
these and more.

Today four of the eight children hold responsible, well-
paid positions. The others are in various stages of being
educated. The laundry continues to flourish in a community
that respects the principles and ideals of its owner.

Of Mrs. Goon it is said, "She is a wonderful mother, a
good citizen she is highly regarded in the community she
lives by the Golden Rule and has taught her children to
do so."

Indeed, Mrs. Toy Len Goon is a success. Hers is the kind
of spirit and determination that keeps America strong.
